“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” -John 17:20-23
We are an historic jurisdiction founded by Archbishop Karl Hugo Prüter, of blessed memory. While being birthed by the Orthodox and Old Catholic traditions, we are an ever growing expression of the Free Catholic Movement. We are a church committed to peace, social justice, and diversity, celebrating a deeply sacramental approach to the Christian faith. Our bishops are validly consecrated within the historic Apostolic Succession of Catholic tradition and through that authority we ordain priests and deacons to serve God’s people in God’s one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church.
Within Christ Catholic Church, the various expressions of the Church relate to one another in a covenantal manner guided by mutual respect, acceptance, patience, and love. Each expression of the Church has responsibilities and rights in relation to the others, to the end that the whole Church will seek God’s will and be faithful to God’s mission together as a community of believers.
Our commonality is expressed in the shared proclamation of the Good News of the Gospels, the celebration of the Seven Historical Sacraments, and particularly experienced within the Holy Eucharist itself, in the sharing of the Body and Blood of Christ. This is where we become a redeemed and united people, “because there is one Bread, we who are many are one Body, for we all partake of the one Bread.”
If you and or your ministerial group feel led to inquire about joining Christ Catholic Church please contact us at email@example.com and feel free to ask any questions you might have. We would be delighted to contemplate sharing our walk with you. Affiliation is offered in three distinct and different ways, a Jurisdictional Membership, a Concordat of Intercommunion, or a simple Ministerial Alliance. We would welcome your discernment in joining in fellowship with us as you may see fit.
– Jurisdictional Membership – A Jurisdictional Membership offers a more formal affiliation whereby the inquiring jurisdiction becomes an actual part of Christ Catholic Church, joining together in a larger communion for fellowship, shared ministry, ecclesiastical endorsement, structural support, and shared governance as well as ministry through a common cause. The affiliating member accomplishes this by means its own individual members making application to Christ Catholic Church individually and committing to adhere to and to uphold The Constitution and Canons of Christ Catholic Church.
– Concordat of Intercommunion – A Concordat of Intercommunion is a process whereby sacramental ministries seek to achieve full communion between one another, accepting one another’s ministries as historically authentic within the context of the ancient Apostolic Succession and similar enough to share clergy, ministry, and the Sacraments while maintaining their own particular identity, tradition, and autonomy. This is achieved by Christ Catholic Church and the affiliating member mutually signing a written Concordat of Intercommunion..
– Ministerial Alliance – Embracing our ecumenical nature we also offer a less formal avenue of affiliation in simply allying ministries for mutual support, fellowship, and edification where no papers are signed, no agreements reached but rather affiliation through a natural acceptance of recognition, fellowship and support.
